coarse thread
Thick textile fiber
Coarse thread refers to screw threads with relatively wide spacing between ridges, as opposed to fine thread.
Coarse-threaded fasteners are easier to start, less likely to cross-thread, and better for softer materials like wood or plastic.
In American standards, coarse thread is the default: a quarter-twenty bolt has twenty threads per inch rather than the finer twenty-eight.
