Clotheslining is a move where you strike someone across the neck or chest with an extended arm while they're moving toward you, knocking them down—like running into a clothesline at neck height.
Common in wrestling and football, where it's usually illegal: He got flagged for clotheslining the receiver.
The term extends to any sudden horizontal takedown.
