closed question
Binary answer query
A closed question is one that limits possible answers—typically yes/no questions or those with a fixed set of responses: Is this your first visit?
Which color do you prefer?
Contrasted with open questions, which invite elaboration.
Useful for surveys and quick confirmation, less so for drawing out nuance: The interview relied too heavily on closed questions.
