climbing stand
Elevated hunting platform
A climbing stand is a portable tree stand used by hunters that attaches to a tree trunk and can be moved up or down by the user while climbing.
It typically consists of two separate platforms—one for sitting and one for standing on—that grip the tree through a lever action as weight is applied.
The hunter ascends by alternately raising each section: He shimmed up the oak with his climbing stand to get above the deer's line of sight.
