cholestasis
Bile flow stoppage
Cholestasis is impaired or blocked flow of bile from the liver.
The condition causes bile to accumulate, leading to jaundice, itching, and dark urine.
Cholestasis can result from obstruction (gallstones, tumors) or from problems within liver cells themselves: The patient developed cholestasis after starting the new medication.
