chip and PIN
Secure payment method
Chip and PIN is a payment card security system requiring users to insert a card containing an embedded microchip and enter a four-digit personal identification number to authorize transactions.
The system replaced signature verification in most countries, though the United States adopted it later than Europe: The terminal prompted me to enter my chip and PIN.
