child survivors
Kids who endured
Child survivors are people who endured traumatic events—war, genocide, abuse, natural disasters—during childhood and lived to tell about it.
The term appears frequently in discussions of the Holocaust, where it distinguishes those who were children during persecution from adult survivors: child survivors of the Holocaust often have fragmented memories of their experiences.
It also applies to survivors of childhood abuse or illness: a support group for child survivors of sexual abuse.
