cherry Bakewell tart
Frangipane tart, fruited
A cherry Bakewell tart is a British pastry consisting of a shortcrust shell spread with jam, filled with frangipane (almond sponge), and topped with white icing and a glacé cherry.
The cherry distinguishes it from a plain Bakewell tart, which has only flaked almonds on top.
Often called simply a Bakewell tart in casual speech: Pick me up a cherry Bakewell from the bakery.
