charity runners
Cause-supporting racers
Charity runners are people who participate in races—typically marathons or fun runs—while raising money for a cause.
They solicit donations from friends and family, often in exchange for completing the event: She's doing the London Marathon as a charity runner for cancer research.
Many races reserve spots specifically for charity runners, who commit to fundraising minimums.
