Intensive planning session
A charette is an intense, collaborative work session where a team races to complete a project under a tight deadline.
The term comes from architecture and design, where students would work frantically as a cart (French *charrette*) collected their drawings.
Now it describes any focused creative sprint: The urban planners held a three-day charette to gather community input.
