chalk block
Climber's friction aid
A chalk block is a compressed cube of magnesium carbonate used by climbers, gymnasts, and weightlifters to keep hands dry and improve grip.
Athletes rub their hands across the block or break off pieces to apply.
Chalk blocks are the alternative to loose chalk powder, which creates more dust but distributes more evenly.
