ceasefire zones
Conflict-free designated areas
Ceasefire zones are designated areas where opposing forces have agreed to stop fighting, at least temporarily.
They typically arise during armed conflicts to allow humanitarian aid, civilian evacuation, or peace negotiations: The UN established ceasefire zones along the border.
Unlike demilitarized zones, ceasefire zones may still contain armed personnel who simply agree not to engage.
