Baseball hand protection
A catching glove is the padded mitt worn by a baseball or softball catcher, designed to absorb the impact of pitched balls.
Unlike fielders' gloves, it has extra padding and a closed web to handle high-velocity pitches: He pounded his fist into the catching glove between pitches.
Also called a catcher's mitt.
