candy cigarettes
Children's sugary sticks
Candy cigarettes are stick-shaped candies designed to resemble cigarettes, typically white with a pink or red tip to mimic a lit end.
Sold primarily to children from the early 20th century onward, they've drawn criticism for normalizing smoking.
Some versions were chalky sticks that could puff powdered sugar like "smoke," while others were bubble gum wrapped in paper.
