Twelve-month cycles
Calendar years are years as reckoned by the standard calendar, running from January 1 through December 31.
The term distinguishes this period from fiscal years, academic years, or other twelve-month spans that begin at different points: The study tracked patients over three calendar years.
A calendar year may also refer to any full twelve-month period: The warranty covers one calendar year from purchase.
