buddy comedy
Mismatched friends flick
A buddy comedy is a film or other narrative centered on two mismatched characters—often opposites in personality, background, or temperament—who are thrown together and must cooperate despite friction.
The humor comes from their clashing styles and reluctant bonding: Lethal Weapon is the quintessential buddy comedy.
The formula pairs well with action and road-trip plots.
