brown people
Darker-skinned human beings
Brown people is an informal, sometimes contentious term for people with medium-toned skin—typically those of South Asian, Middle Eastern, Latino, or mixed heritage who don't fit neatly into "Black" or "white" categories.
The term can express solidarity among these groups or describe shared experiences of racialization: Brown people get pulled aside at airport security more often.
Some embrace it as identity; others find it reductive.
