brick phones
Heavy early cellphones
Brick phones are early mobile phones, bulky and heavy compared to modern smartphones.
The name comes from their resemblance to actual bricks—rectangular, solid, and substantial.
The term is now nostalgic or dismissive: My first cell phone was a brick phone from the nineties.
Despite their limitations, brick phones were nearly indestructible and had legendary battery life.
