bound variable
Tied logical placeholder
A bound variable is a variable in logic or programming whose value is determined by a quantifier or binding operator within its scope.
In the expression "for all x, x > 0," the x is bound by "for all"—it doesn't refer to any particular value but ranges over whatever the quantifier specifies.
Contrasts with free variable, which has no such binding and may take values from context.
The loop's counter is a bound variable that iterates from 1 to 10.
