borescope

Internal cavity viewer

A borescope is a slender optical instrument for inspecting the interior of narrow spaces—engine cylinders, gun barrels, pipes, or other cavities inaccessible to the naked eye.

Modern borescopes often have cameras and lights at the tip, transmitting images to a screen: The mechanic used a borescope to check for cracks inside the turbine.
