boodle

Illicit political cash

Boodle is money, especially money obtained dishonestly or used for bribery: The politicians split the boodle among themselves.

The word carries a whiff of corruption and backroom dealing.

In older slang, boodle could also mean a crowd or bunch of people, though this sense has largely faded.
