Boob tube has two meanings depending on which side of the Atlantic you're on.
In American slang, the boob tube is television—the idiot box, so called because it supposedly turns viewers into boobs (fools): We spent the evening in front of the boob tube.
In British usage, a boob tube is a strapless, tight-fitting top that covers the breasts—what Americans call a tube top.
