bodysnatching
Stealing buried remains
Bodysnatching is the practice of stealing corpses from graves, historically to sell them for medical dissection when legal cadavers were scarce.
The term extends to any unauthorized removal of a body.
Figuratively, it describes taking someone away from a group or organization: Corporate bodysnatching of university researchers has become common.
