blocked tear duct
Clogged eye drainage
A blocked tear duct is an obstruction in the drainage system that normally carries tears from the eye into the nose.
Common in newborns, it causes excessive tearing and sometimes discharge or infection.
The condition often resolves on its own in infants but may require treatment in adults: The baby's blocked tear duct cleared up by six months.
