blacking out
Memory going dark
Blacking out is losing consciousness or memory temporarily.
You might black out from a blow to the head, from drinking too much alcohol, or from a sudden drop in blood pressure: I blacked out and don't remember anything after midnight.
Blacking out also means extinguishing lights, especially during wartime air raids, or blocking content from view: The network is blacking out the game in local markets.
