black wolf
Melanistic pack hunter
A black wolf is a gray wolf with dark fur resulting from a genetic variant.
The coloration occurs naturally in North American wolf populations and was long considered a separate species.
Black wolves appear frequently in folklore and fantasy, often symbolizing danger, mystery, or the supernatural: A black wolf emerged from the shadows.
