black cow
Root beer float
A black cow is a root beer float—vanilla ice cream in root beer.
The term dates to early 20th-century American soda fountains, where it distinguished the root beer version from other floats.
Some regions use black cow for a chocolate milk or cola float instead: I'll have a black cow with extra ice cream.
