black ants
Dark picnic crashers
Black ants are ants that are black or dark brown in color, a description covering many common species.
The term is informal rather than scientific—dozens of ant species could qualify.
In everyday use, black ants usually means the small ants found in homes and gardens: We've got black ants in the kitchen again.
