Refuses any compromise
A bitter-ender is someone who refuses to give up or compromise, holding out to the very end of a conflict or struggle regardless of the odds.
The term originated with Boer fighters who continued resisting British forces until the final surrender in the Second Boer War.
Today it describes any stubborn holdout who won't concede defeat or accept an unfavorable outcome.
The bitter-enders on the committee blocked every attempt at compromise.
