biblical poetry
Sacred Hebrew lyrics
Biblical poetry refers to the poetic portions of the Bible, including Psalms, Proverbs, Song of Solomon, Job, and sections of the prophetic books.
Unlike most Western poetry, it relies not on rhyme or meter but on parallelism—restating or developing an idea across paired lines: The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Hebrew poetry also uses vivid imagery, acrostics, and repetition for emphasis.
