bereavement pay
Grief leave compensation
Bereavement pay is wages an employer provides to an employee who takes time off following the death of a family member.
Most policies specify which relationships qualify—typically immediate family—and how many days are covered: The company offers three days of bereavement pay for the death of a parent or spouse.
Also called bereavement leave when referring to the time off itself rather than the compensation.
