bedrail
Sleeper's safety edge
A bedrail is a bar or railing attached to the side of a bed, either to prevent someone from falling out or to help them get in and out.
Bedrails are common on hospital beds, children's beds, and beds for elderly or mobility-impaired individuals: The nurse raised the bedrails before leaving the room.
