bearer bond
Nameless debt certificate
A bearer bond is a debt security owned by whoever physically holds it, with no registered owner on record.
Interest payments are collected by clipping attached coupons and presenting them for payment.
Because ownership transfers simply by handing over the certificate, bearer bonds have been used for tax evasion and money laundering.
Most countries have phased them out in favor of registered bonds that track ownership electronically.
