bean balls
Pitches targeting batters
Bean balls are pitches in baseball thrown intentionally at or near a batter's head.
The bean in question is the batter's skull.
A pitcher who throws at batters is a beanballer.
The practice is dangerous and against the rules, though proving intent is difficult.
Bean balls often spark bench-clearing brawls.
