barn work
Tending the livestock
Barn work is the labor involved in maintaining a barn and caring for the animals housed there—mucking stalls, feeding livestock, milking cows, grooming horses, and similar chores.
The term distinguishes these tasks from field work or other farm labor: She does the barn work while her brother handles the crops.
