artistic swimming
Choreographed pool performance
Artistic swimming is the sport formerly called synchronized swimming, in which swimmers perform choreographed routines to music, judged on technique, artistry, and synchronization.
Competitors may perform solo, in duets, or in teams.
The sport requires exceptional breath control, flexibility, and the ability to execute precise movements while inverted underwater.
The artistic swimming final drew huge crowds at the Olympics.
