artist loft
Painter's urban dwelling
An artist loft is a large, open living or working space, typically in a converted industrial building, characterized by high ceilings, exposed brick or ductwork, and abundant natural light.
Originally these spaces were cheap and spacious enough for artists to create and store large works: She rented an artist loft in a former warehouse.
The term now often describes any loft-style apartment with artistic aesthetic appeal, regardless of the occupant's profession.
