artificial organ
Manufactured body part
An artificial organ is a manufactured device designed to replace or supplement a natural organ's function.
Some are implanted permanently, like artificial hearts or cochlear implants.
Others work externally, like dialysis machines substituting for kidneys.
The term covers both mechanical devices and bioengineered tissue: She's on the waiting list for a transplant but using an artificial organ in the meantime.
