articling

Law firm internship

Articling is the period of supervised practical training required before qualification in certain professions, especially law.

In Canada, law school graduates must complete articling—working under an experienced lawyer—before being called to the bar: She's articling at a firm in Toronto.

The term derives from articles of clerkship, the formal agreement binding the trainee.
