arterial bleeding
Major vessel hemorrhage
Arterial bleeding is blood loss from a damaged artery rather than a vein.
Because arteries carry blood under high pressure directly from the heart, arterial bleeding is characterized by bright red blood that spurts rhythmically with each heartbeat.
It's the most dangerous type of bleeding and can be fatal within minutes without intervention: Apply direct pressure to stop the arterial bleeding.
