animatronic figure
Robotic theme-park creature
An animatronic figure is a mechanized puppet or statue that moves and sometimes speaks, typically used in theme park attractions, museum displays, and film productions.
The technology combines robotics with sculpted exteriors to simulate lifelike movement—dinosaurs at natural history museums, presidents at Disney's Hall of Presidents, creatures in horror films.
The animatronic figures in the haunted house were more unsettling than any actor could be.
