airport hub
Major transfer point
An airport hub is a central airport through which an airline routes most of its flights, with passengers connecting through it to reach final destinations.
Hubs allow airlines to serve more city pairs efficiently—rather than flying direct routes between every destination, traffic funnels through a few major airports: Atlanta is Delta's primary hub.
The hub-and-spoke model dominates commercial aviation.
