air-guitar

Invisible rock instrument

Air-guitar is the pantomime of playing an electric guitar, typically performed while listening to rock music.

The performer mimics strumming, fingering, and the exaggerated poses of guitar solos without holding an instrument: He air-guitared through the entire solo.

The term extends to similar mimicry of other instruments: air-drums, air-bass.
