age-mates
Same generation cohort
Age-mates are people of roughly the same age, especially when that shared age creates a social bond or basis for comparison.
The term appears most often in anthropology and developmental psychology, describing peer groups in traditional societies or children who move through stages together: Age-mates underwent initiation rites as a group.
In casual use, it simply means contemporaries: She and her age-mates remember a world before smartphones.
