adjourning

Suspending until later

Adjourning is the act of suspending or ending a meeting, session, or proceeding, typically with the intention to resume later: The committee is adjourning until next Tuesday.

Courts adjourn, legislatures adjourn, and any formal gathering may adjourn when business concludes or a break is needed.

To adjourn can also mean to move somewhere else: Let's adjourn to the bar.
