carrying on

Keeping at it

Carrying on means continuing despite difficulty or interruption: She's carrying on with her work despite the setbacks.

It also describes behaving badly or making a fuss: The children were carrying on in the back seat.

In British usage, carrying on with someone suggests an illicit romantic affair: He'd been carrying on with his secretary for years.
