ad libitum
As you please
Ad libitum is Latin for "at pleasure," meaning freely or as one wishes.
In music, it indicates a passage that may be performed with flexibility in tempo or interpretation, or omitted entirely.
In scientific contexts, especially animal studies, ad libitum feeding means subjects have unrestricted access to food: Mice were given ad libitum access to water.
Often shortened to ad lib.
