acute bronchitis
Temporary airway infection
Acute bronchitis is inflammation of the bronchial tubes—the airways carrying air to the lungs—typically caused by viral infection.
It produces a persistent cough, often with mucus, and usually resolves within a few weeks.
Unlike chronic bronchitis, it's temporary: The doctor said it was just acute bronchitis, not pneumonia.
