steam inhalation
Therapeutic mist intake
Steam inhalation is the practice of breathing in water vapor, typically for respiratory relief.
Hot water is placed in a bowl, the face positioned above it, and a towel draped over the head to trap the steam: Steam inhalation helps clear my sinuses when I have a cold.
Sometimes essential oils are added.
The technique loosens congestion and soothes irritated airways.
