acknowledgements

Book's thank-you page

Acknowledgements is the section of a book, thesis, or formal work where the author thanks those who helped—advisors, editors, family, funders: I always read the acknowledgements first.

The spelling with an e after the g is British; American English prefers acknowledgments.

Beyond publishing, acknowledgements are any formal recognitions of help, contribution, or receipt.
